The Tangerang Regency Government is building the Tigaraksa Zero Point Monument with a budget of Rp 2.3 billion, between december 18th and 20th.. The budget will be used not only for the monument but also for the development of a digital literacy park.
The Head of the Tangerang Regency Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Erwin Mawandi, explained that the budget covers the overall development of the area. "The budget isn't just for the monument. The Zero Monument is only a small part of the development of the literacy park area," Erwin told Kompas.com by phone on Friday (December 19, 2025).

Erwin said the development includes tidying up the Zero Point Monument, previously built by the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), as well as the construction of supporting facilities that will function as a digital-based learning center.
On the other hand, a resident, Arga, felt that the building behind the zero monument didn't seem to match the budget allocated by the Tangerang Regency Government.
"I was shocked to see the construction costs. I don't think the budget for this building was even Rp 2.3 billion. It doesn't make sense," said Arga.
He hopes that the monument's construction, which involved an extraordinary amount of funding, will truly succeed in educating and improving public literacy in Tangerang Regency.
"Hopefully, this building will be crowded with visitors in the future, not just for display," he concluded.
