According to Pestapora Festival Director Kiki Aulia Ucup, this idea was born from a desire to offer an experience that cannot be found at other music festivals.
“If we look at it, this year’s festival is quite challenging. So we’re trying to introduce elements that can serve as challenges for both performers and attendees. We want to try things that haven’t been done by other festivals,” Kiki Ucup explained in a press release received by Kompas.tv on Monday, July 21, 2025.
This event is not only a form of entertainment, but also a means of sharing and getting to know various genres of music. From pop, rock, jazz, to indie, everything can be heard and exchanged. Each visitor is invited to bring one of their favorite songs to play or share with others, so that everyone can go home with a new musical experience.
In addition to the song-sharing sessions, the festival is also enlivened by performances from local bands, music-making workshops, and a special area for jam sessions. Many visitors describe the event as a “new way to enjoy a music festival” because it offers the opportunity to truly interact, not just watch.
The organizers hope that the Jakarta Song Exchange Festival and Pestapora 2025 can become an annual event, as well as a platform to strengthen connections among music lovers. With its relaxed atmosphere, boundless creativity, and spirit of sharing, the festival successfully proves that music truly has the power to unite everyone.
